I enjoy reading. I’m not a book worm by any means. Some books are incredibly boring, others are more intellectual (which makes them a good read but it’s like read a paragraph and ponder), then there are some that just suck you in. The ones you get sucked into are the ones that takes you away from your world. You forget everything that is happening in your waking life. In the middle of the day you think about what is going to happen in the book. You crave the book.
A majority of my coworkers loved the Twilight series. I refuse to read them. It’s not the fact that I’m too cool for them. But just from what I’ve heard from others I would just wouldn’t like it. And that goes for 50 Shades of Grey. Anything that was based off of a Twilight fanfiction, yeah… I’ll pass. I can find some better sex fueled book somewhere else.
Harry Potter is one of those books for me. I was in the seventh grade when Harry Potter came out and in our English class we read it. I couldn’t grasp my head around it and it was hard for me to imagine. Once I saw the movie and could figure out what I was reading (Quidditch was something that I had no idea what the hell it was in the book), I reread the book and just fell in love with it. I’ve seen the other Harry Potter, but the first one was my favorite movie and the books are marvelous. The fourth, The Goblet of Fire, is my absolute favorite one of the series.
I have a new obsession of reading material. Game of Thrones. OMG. Have you read that series? I’m still on book one but I’m gobbling it up. I stay awake as late as I can reading that book. I watched the TV show through the fourth season, and loved the story. But the book made me understand what was going on so much better. I can’t wait to finish the book series and rewatch the show. And just typing about it makes me want to go read it. The other thing I love about the book is how it’s written. Like the show, it bounces from character to character. With each character, you get short “chapters”. So if you have five-ten minutes, you could read a chapter. I highly recommend reading it. My goal is to finish the series by the end of summer. Which should be a piece of cake at the rate I’m at.
Now, I’m going to step up on my soap box and proclaim to the world, I love paper books. I refuse to get an electronic reader. I have a tablet, but I will not be reading books off of it. It feels unnatural to me. It loses magic. There is something about opening a book and feeling the pages on your finger tips. Smelling the fresh printed paper is one of the best smells on the planet. I like having a visual of where I am in the book as well. If books, paper bound books, become extinct, that will be an incredibly sad day. That would be the day the magic of books dies.
Anyways, feel free to share any books that you crave! Do you have any books that are on your summer reading list? Comment below!
